MESSAGE .................NHW RU Distraction burglary at home of elderly lady in Townsend Lane. Long Lawford INC 539 of 29 January
Rugby police would like to make you aware that at 6.30pm yesterday evening, 29 January, a male offender called at the home of an elderly lady in Townsend Lane, Long Lawford and stated that he was from the water board. The lady let him into her home and later discovered that a quantity of cash had been stolen from her bedroom.
Please can we ask you to remind elderly neighbours not to allow anyone they do not know or are not expecting into their homes without thoroughly checking their identity even if the caller says that it is an emergency. If in any doubt, do not answer the door and contact a neighbour or police. Thankyou.
