MESSAGE .................NHW RU Burglaries in Portland Rd, Balcombe Rd, Foresters Pl & Lower Hillmorton Rd, Rugby INC 107 of 6 February
Rugby police would like to hear from anyone with information relating to the following burglaries which have occurred in your area over recent days.
During the night of 5 into 6 February an offender cut the chain of the rear garden gate of a home in Portland Road, Rugby and then cut the padlock off a garden shed. Nothing was stolen from the shed. Padlocks were also cut off sheds in the gardens of homes in Hillmorton Road but nothing was stolen from them.
Between 6 and 6.15pm last night, 7 February, an offender forced open the front door of a home in Balcombe Road, Rugby with a sharp instrument which caused damage to the lock area. The offender then entered the house and untidily searched it before making off with £40 in cash.
A little while before 6.30pm also last night three offenders jemmied open the rear door of a home in Balcombe Road, Rugby and, when confronted by the elderly occupant of the house, stated that there had been a burst pipe.
The offenders had been in the house for sometime before they were disturbed and made a search of the premises and stolen a handbag.
The offenders are described as all wearing multi coloure woollen hats. One was around 5ft 5in tall, had a Scottish accent and was carrying a screwdriver.
