MESSAGE .................RU NHW Please warn NHW members to beware of telephone calls from bogus NHW officials asking for personal information
We have received information from Northamptonshire police to say that Neighbourhood Watch members in the Harborough and Lutterworth areas had received telephone calls from someone who purported to be a NHW official and who asked for personal information including details about their house alarm.
Please advise your members that if they should receive a call of this nature, not to give out information but to put the phone down and dial 1471 in order to attempt to get a telephone number for the caller. They should then make a note of the time of the call, details about the callers voice or manner and contact police immediately with this information.
Also remind your members that no-one from either Neighbourhood Watch or the police would contact them in this way. Thankyou.

Julie Dale
Watch Co-ordinator
Community Safety Team.
If you call about an incident please ring 01926 415000 and ask for the Communications Centre. Please tell them that you are ringing in response to a message. Please quote the incident number, or you can call Crime Stoppers 0800 555111
