MESSAGE .................NHW RU Information about the launch of Operation Crunch and how you can help

Warwickshire Police have launched a major operation against burglars and car criminals following a recent increase in the number of offences across the county.

The force has formed a proactive team of officers and will use both high-profile and covert activity to target offenders, both day and night, over the next three months.

The force-wide unit will be supported by officers and staff in local Safer Neighbourhood teams, reactive and CID officers, Task Force officers and officers in the force's Offender Management Unit, which targets persistent and prolific offenders.

All parts of the force are supporting 'Operation Crunch', which started on Wednesday 17 September.

We want you to know who is living in your neighbourhood and to encourage you to report anything you feel uncertain or concerned about to us. By doing so you will be helping to bring down crime levels where you live.

This could be anything from someone trying car doors as they walk along the street, someone suddenly having more money than they would usually have to spend, or someone offering property for sale in their local pub.

People in Warwickshire can now phone the intelligence hotline number - which will be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week - to provide information about car criminals or burglars operating in their community.

The Operation Crunch Intelligence Hotline number is: 01926 415247. Anyone who can provide us with information about a burglar or car criminal should ring this number. You will be speaking to a police intelligence officer or a police officer or member of staff in our control room. Many members of the public have good intelligence or information about burglars and car criminals who operate in their community and this number allows them to contact us. We will use all information available to us to carry out more intelligence-led raids and arrest operations in the days and weeks to come.

Anyone who wishes to report a crime should continue to call 01926 415000. In an emergency, if you are witnessing a crime in progress, call 999.

If you are concerned about passing information about criminals or crime to Warwickshire Police Crimestoppers provides an excellent and anonymous route through which this information can be given to us. If you call Crimestoppers the call is not traced and you will not be asked for your name. The number is 0800 555 111. You can pass on information and this will be provided to us so we can act upon it. Thankyou.
