MESSAGE .................NHW RU Distraction burglary at home of elderly person in Attleborough Road, Nuneaton INC 451 of 11 October

We would like to make you aware of the following similar incidents which have occurred at homes of elderly people in both Nuneaton and Rugby over recent days.

At just after 2pm on Friday 10 October a male and a female, purporting to be Police Officers entered the home of an elderly person in Attleborough Road, Nuneaton. The male showed the resident a fake identity badge.

The female then attempted to distract the resident whilst the male looked around. Nothing appears to have been stolen.

The male is described as white, about 6ft tall with light coloured hair and a bulky build.

He spoke with an Irish accent and was wearing a sweater and trousers.

The female was also white, had dark hair and was wearing a dark top, tight jeans and she had a blemish on her cheek.

At 3.30pm on 11 October a female called at the home of an elderly person in Yates Avenue, Newbold on Avon. She stated that she was a Police Officer and that a burglary had occurred in the area and that she needed to check all was OK.

She was then joined by a male offender who she referred to as Sergeant. The male checked around the house as the female spoke to the resident and asked if money was kept in the house. She then took notes from the residents wallet stating they were forged. A bank card and PIN number were also taken and money was then stolen from a bank account.

The male is described as white, muscular and about 40 years of age. He was wearing a casual jacket and an open necked shirt.

The female was around 4ft 6in tall, aged around 40 with a slim build. She was wearing a dark jacket and trousers resembling a police uniform.

Please remind neighbours and local elderly or vulnerable people in your area not to allow anyone they do not know or are not expecting into their homes, even if the caller states that it is an emergency and to report anything of concern to police.

If you have information that you believe may be connected to either of these incidents or you saw these offenders please contact either Rugby or Nuneaton Police quoting incident number 451 of 11 October. Thankyou.
