MESSAGE .................NHW RU Assistance required re cash in transit robbery in High Street Rugby INC 630 of 14 November

Rugby Police are appealing for witnesses who can help identify four men involved in a cash in transit robbery at the Nationwide Building Society in High Street, Rugby at 9.20pm on Friday 14 November.

After parking a red Audi S4 saloon between Windsor Court and the Merchant Inn in Little Church Street, police believe three of the offenders made their way through an alley to the High Street leaving a fourth man in the vehicle or nearby.

The offenders smashed the door panel of the Nationwide where a cash in transit vehicle was making a delivery and stole a substantial amount of money from cash machines within the bank.

After being threatened with a crow bar, one of the two security guards making the delivery locked himself in a safe room. The other guard who was outside the bank at the time, sought help.

The men made off back to the red Audi in Little Church Street and drove off towards Bilton Road.

The vehicle was found abandoned at 1pm on Sunday 15 November in Burnside, off Westfield Road, Rugby and this has been recovered for scenes of crime officers to examine.

Noone was injured during the robbery.

If you were out and about in Rugby town centre on Friday evening an believe that you may have information relating to this incident please contact Rugby Police quoting incident number 630 of 14 November. Thankyou.
