Theft of suitcases from Karreen Drive, Binley Woods and attempted burglary in Main Street, Wolston

At 7.20pm on Friday 8 June a family from Karreen Drive, Binley Woods arrived home from holiday. Suitcases were placed in the porch whilst children were settled inside the house and on return to the porch some minutes later, the suitcases were discovered to have been stolen.

During the night of 8th June offenders attempted to force open the front door of a home in Main Street, Wolston with a jemmy. No entry was gained.

Attempted Theft of Hot Tub from Rugby area

There was an attempted theft of a Hot Tub from the Rugby area on Friday 8th June. The vehicle involved in the theft is described as a 7.5tonne lorry with a light blue cab, an orange light bar on the roof and a hydraulic lift on the back. The vehicle made off on the A45 towards Stretton and then onto the M45. There have been several other recent thefts of Hot Tubs in the Leicestershire area. P

Please be on the lookout for this vehicle in your area or around your premises and please report sightings or anything else suspicious to police immediately.

Thefts from vehicles in Percival Rd and Sidney Rd and burglary at Warwickshire College

Between 9 and 11.30pm, on 6th June, offenders broke into a car in Percival Road which actived the alarm. They then stole a stereo from inside.

Between 11.15 and 12.15pm, offenders forced open the boot lid of a BMW parked in Sidney Road and stole a laptop computer, an overnight bag and a briefcase from inside.

At 11.20pm, two offenders, wearing hoods removed the glass panel from a fire door at Warwickshire College on Lower Hillmorton Road and got into the building. Once inside they attacked 3 vending machines and removed the cashboxes.

Theft of laptop computer and 55 plate Seat Leon from home in Moat Farm Drive, Rugby

During last night offenders forced their way into a home in Moat Farm Drive, Rugby via a bathroom window. Once inside the house they stole a laptop computer and then removed a grey 55 plate Seat Leon fron the drive, similar to the picture shown. A witness heard a noise outside at around 11pm, which may be connected to this incident.

Burglary at home in Rugby Road, Binley Woods

A burglary at a home in Rugby Road, Binley Woods occurred sometime during the daytime of 6th June. Offenders smashed glass in a rear door to gain entry to the house before conducting an untidy search and making off with a laptop computer. They then removed the locks from the garage and stole a red, T registration Honda CBR 1100cc motorcycle from inside.

Robbery at Little Chef on A46 Binley Woods

A member of staff at the Little Chef on the A46 at Binley Woods was threatened at knifepoint by a man who escaped with cash from the safe. The offender walked into the restaurant at shortly after 10pm on Tuesday, June 5 and went to the staff area at the back of the premises where he confronted two male members of staff. He grabbed one of the men and held a knife to his throat before dragging him to an office and demanding that he open the safe. The offender escaped with cash and is believed to have run across the A46 and into an industrial estate on the opposite side of the carriageway where a vehicle may have been parked.

The offender is described as a stockily and strongly built man. His face was totally covered by a balaclava. He wore a navy hooded top with two white stripes across the hood. He also wore a blue jacket, and dark coloured woollen gloves. He spoke with an accent - possibly Irish.

Damage to and thefts from vehicles in Adkinson Avenue and The Green, Dunchurch

In the Dunchurch area on 5th June at 11.02pm three male offenders stole the stereo from a Ford Focus parked in Adkinson Avenue which activated the alarm. The offenders then left the area in a dark blue, diesel Vauxhall Vectra. One was wearing a black beanie hat.

At 11.08pm two white male offenders smashed the window of a Ford Ka parked on The Green and stole the stereo. The offenders are described as between 18 to 19 years and one had a hoody over his face and the other was chubby with short dark hair.

At 11.40pm offenders smashed the window of a Vauxhall Astra also parked on The Green and stole a satellite navigation device from inside.

Burglaries in Lower Hillmorton Road and St Peters Road

Sometime over the weekend between 1st to 3rd June, offenders forced open the window of the Youth Offending Team offices in Lower Hillmorton Road, Rugby and searched inside but nothing is believed to have been stolen. This is the fourth incident at the offices in 6 months. Offenders also entered one of two new build houses in St Peters Road and stole kitchen appliances and ovens and hobs from inside.

Thefts of Stereos from Ford vehicles

During the nights of 1st and 2nd June offenders have broken into Ford vehicles parked in Alexandra Road, Norman Road, and Parkfield Road and stolen the steroes from inside in the mistaken belief that the chips inside the steroes, when fitted into satellite boxes, will allow then to receive satellite TV illegally.

Burglaries in Monarch Close and Seymour Road

Sometime between 22nd May and 2nd June offenders forced open the rear window of a home in Monarch Close, causing damage. They then entered the home but nothing was stolen.

Sometime between 12 noon and 6.30pm on 3rd June, offenders entered a home in Seymour Road via a bathroom window. They searched the premises and stole 2 phones and a selection of CD's.

Vehicle Crime in Smiths Orchard, Craven Rd, Oxford St, Claremont Rd, Murray Rd & Windsor St

During the night of 2nd into 3rd June a Red Cagiva Mito motorcycle was stolen fron a home in Craven Road, and an orange Ford Capri was stolen from The Imperial Inn in Oxford Street, Rugby.

During the nights between 1st and 4th June offenders have stolen stereos from Ford vehicles parked in Claremont Road, Murray Road, and Windsor Street. One offender is described as wearing a Burberry baseball cap. These offenders believe that a chip from inside the stereos, when fitted into satellite boxes will enable them to receive satellite TV illegally. This is not possible.

Burglary at Home in Brook Street, Wolston

Burglary at home in Brook Street, Wolston of 22 May between 1.30pm and 3.25pm

Offenders kicked in the front stable bottom door and stole a 2ft by 2ft safe containing household documents. The offenders are then believed to have been disturbed as they left other items stacked up inside.

The offenders are believed to be 3 males and one female with a ponytail, all aged between 17 and 25 years and driving a gold Rover like the one in the picture.

Prevent Shed Break-ins By Protective Planting, Alarms and Sturdy Locks.

Your attention is drawn to a number of shed break-ins in the Rugby area. Please ensure your property is suitably locked at all times. Shed alarms can be purchased at low cost, and you may consider protective planting which is both pleasing to the eye and also helps to deter entry to your property.

Distraction Burglaries - Advice for Prevention

There were a further three distraction burglaries on May 1st, one in Bedworth and two in Rugby - involving men claiming to be investigating water supply problems.
Detectives are investigating other incidents throughout the county where callers, claiming to be from the "Water Board" have gained access to peoples homes saying, among other things, that they need to check the water pressure, check the water system or turn the water off because of a leak further down the road.

Unfortunately the callers have turned out to be bogus and the householders, who are usually elderly, have lost valuables including jewellery, watches, and money.
Bogus callers can be male, female, young or old and they may work alone, or as a team.

The range of excuses they will give to trick their way into homes are varied.
They may pretend to be from one of the other utility companies (Gas, electricity, water, telephone), or they may pretend to be looking for someone who used to live in the area. They may say they have lost something (like a football or a pet dog / cat) in the garden, or could say they have broken down, or they are not feeling well. These are just some of the ruses that have been used in recent weeks to get into peoples homes.

Please ensure that elderly and vulnerable neighbours are aware of the Doorstep Code:

Always keep the front door and back door closed and locked, even when you are at home.
Always close downstairs windows if you move to another room in the house.
Always put the security chain on the door before opening it to callers, even if you are expecting them.
Ask the caller for their identification card.
Take the card from them to examine it closely (still with the chain on the door).
If you have any doubts find a telephone number in the directory and ring the company they claim to be from.
Do not use the number on the card as this could be answered by an associate.
If you have any doubts ask the caller to make an appointment to come back, when you can have a friend or neighbour with you.
Genuine callers will not mind waiting while you make these checks.
Remember, you do not have to let a stranger into your home, even if they say it is an emergency.

Police Arrest 14 Year Old

Following police investigations into shed burglaries in the New Bilton Area, police have arrested a 14 year old male on suspicion of burglary. A substantial amount of property has been recovered from his home address which has been identified as potentially stolen.
