MESSAGE .................NHW RU Distraction Burglary in Alwyn Road, Bilton, Rugby INC 238 of 14 December
Rugby police would like to remind residents to beware of bogus callers to homes in your area following a distraction burglary which occurred at the home of an elderly couple in Alwyn Road, Bilton at 12.35pm on Friday 14 December.
Two males called at the house and said that they were from the Water Board, that there had been an explosion and that they needed to turn off the water. Both men rushed into the house and told the female resident to go into the kitchen and turn the water off. A third male then entered and took a handbag and removed the contents of a purse. One then went upstairs, forced open a locked door and made off with items of jewellery.
The offenders were using a large blue car.

Please also remind enlderly neighbours not to allow anyone they do not know or are not exptecting into their homes and to always check the identity of the caller before opening the door to them.
