MESSAGE .................SW RU Information relating to Convenience Store robberies in Bedworth & Bulkington - Be AWARE & ALERT
In order to increase your awareness of suspicious activity and to prevent further shop robberies Rugby police would like to make you aware of the following incidents which have occurred at convenience stores in Bedworth.

Police in Bedworth are investigating two robberies at convenience stores which took place within minutes of each other.

In the first incident a member of staff standing outside the One stop Convenience store on Leicester Road, Bedworth, saw a silver Peugeot 307 car pull up outside the shop at a few minutes before 10.30pm.

Seeing that the four occupants were wearing masks and balaclavas the member of staff ran inside and attempted to lock the door. However one of the males managed to force his way in and then enabled two accomplices to also enter the front of the shop.

After making an unsuccessful attempt to open the rear of a cash point machine they demanded the keys to the safe and forced the two members of staff into the rear of the premises to open the safe. At this point a fourth male, also wearing a mask and balaclava joined the other three. At least one of them is reported to have been carrying what appeared to be a hand gun. Three of the males are believed to be white and one is described as being black.

After stealing an unknown quantity of money all four ran off towards the Peugeot 307 car and drove off in the direction of Bedworth town centre.

In a second robbery at the Spar Shop in Leicester Street, Bulkington, six males all wearing masks and balaclavas came into the store at approximately 10.36pm.

One of the males was carrying what is believed to have been a small handgun. They demanded that a member of staff open the safe, but were told it was not possible to do so, so the gang stole money from the till, and also stole a quantity of cigarettes and lottery cards. They also demanded the handbag from a female member of staff.

The six ran over to a silver car, believed to be a Peugeot, which drove off towards in the direction of Aldermans Green.

Due to similarities between the two robberies police are looking at potential links between the two incidents and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the vicinity of the two stores last night (Tuesday 4 December) between 10pm and 10.45pm. They would also like to hear from anyone who saw a silver car being driven through Bedworth between 10pm and 10.45pm.

Please also report any suspicious people or vehicles at in in the vicinity of your shops.
