MESSAGE .................NHW RU Distraction burglary at home of pensioner in Townsend Road, Rugby INC 431 of 9 May
We would like to make you aware that distraction burglars have recently been at work in your area.

At around 6pm on the evening of Friday 9 May an offender called at the home of an elderly person in Townsend Road, Rugby and said he was from the waterboard.
The offender asked the resident to turn on the tap and to clear out a cupboard.

After the offender had left the resident discovered that a quantity of money and several bank books were missing.

The offender is described as a white male in his mid 20's. He had dark hair and was wearing trousers and a t shirt. he may also have been driving a green Ford Focus vehicle.

If you noticed anyone of this description in the area of Townsend Road on Friday evening that you believe may be connected to this incident please contact Rugby police quoting incident number 431 of 9 May.

Please also make elderly neighbours aware that they should not allow anyone they do not know or are not expecting into their homes even in the caller says that it is an emergency. They should always ask the caller to make an appointment to return and if in any doubt have a neighbour be there when they do.
