Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery at McColls in Overslade Lane, Rugby at 8pm on Friday 27 November when three masked men entered the store and locked themselves in.

Two female cashiers were forceably removed from behind the till area. One of the men emptied the tills whilst a second held a knife to a cashier's back.

A third staff member was ordered to open a safe containing a small amount of cash. The offenders held a knife to her stomach and struck her to the stomach with an elbow when it transpired the safe was relatively empty.

A female customer also had a knife held to her back.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery.

The offenders left via a back door, over a gate and into Everest Road where their direction of travel is unknown.

It is not known if the three men used a vehicle, but witnesses report seeing a blue Citroen driving away from the area at speed after the robbery.

Officers are keen to hear from any witnesses who saw the blue Citroen either before or after 8pm on Friday. The vehicle may be totally unconnected with the incident, but officers are keen to trace it so that it can be eliminated from their enquiries.

The males are described as wearing balaclavas and gloves and jogging suits. The first offender is described as a white male, 5'8" to 5'10" tall, approximately 17 years old with blond hair and blue eyes. The second offender is described as a 6' tall black male wearing a dark grey jogging suit and the third offender is believed to be a white male wearing a jogging suit with a hood.
